The countdown is on to our return to school! What an amazing effort it has been from our whole school community to get us to this point and it has been so inspiring to see the work that parents have done at home with their children. I’d like to thank all of the parents who have kept our community safe by keeping their children at home while the state “flattened the curve”. I would ask you to help us to continue to provide a safe working environment for everyone, as well as trying to lessen the chance of community spread by adhering to the department guidelines of “Stop, Drop and Go” for drop off and pick up of children. We would also ask that all adults enter the school via the front office and we will seek to help you from there. As part of our safety plan, non employees should not enter the building unless prearranged. We are working with the families of our students who need help in transitioning into class and if you believe your child may have issues in this regard please let us know.
A further reminder is that playgrounds are out of bounds before and after school. Excitingly, we will be soon undertaking our playground redevelopment. We received some great ideas from our students that we will incorporate. We will not be having canteen at school at the present time. We are investigating a partnership with an external supplier and a limited opening of our canteen when restrictions are eased later in the year. More details on the new lunch order system will hopefully be available next week. There will also be a very limited breakfast club service. This service will resume in a limited capacity from the 1st of June.
As restrictions change we will continue to update you through the newsletter and Facebook. It is very important to check these to keep informed. In the absence of assemblies I will continue to award certificates via my YouTube videos as well as a weekly message for our community.
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay
This week’s Learning at Home online packages are now available on the school website at https://sgeorgetps.schoolzineplus.com/learning-at-home-
We would like to say a big thankyou to all families who have encouraged and supported their children over the past weeks to engage with Learning at Home.
We look forward to seeing all students back at school next week.
- Pick up and drop off is outside of the school building, preferably outside the school boundary
- All adult entry is via the school office
- When entering the office area use the hand sanitizer, physically distance from others and check in with the office staff
- Playground equipment is out of bounds before and after school
RETURN OF LIBRARY BOOKS
Library books borrowed at the end of last term need to be returned to school this week.
We have opened the school gym from 9.30 - 2.30 today, tomorrow and Friday for drop offs. Please do not bring the books into the school building, but rather, leave them on the trestle tables inside the gym door.
