Another busy term comes to an end! I would like to congratulate all of our school community in supporting our children’s learning this term. I would like to congratulate especially our Country Gold participants who did so amazingly well at the recent carnivals. The feedback was that you all played very well, but most importantly you all represented yourselves, families and school with great pride, dignity and humility.
Our focus on vocabulary has seen some fantastic achievement in regards to our students' understanding in the areas we have been investigating. Likewise, our teachers have all been looking at the words that we teach and the way children are taught about words. Our teaching team has continued to demonstrate their outstanding commitment to improving their craft and this is evident in the learning occurring across the school.
Last night we celebrated Peggy Pickrill’s retirement from our school. As is Peggy’s want, it was a low key affair, but a lovely send off for a much loved member of our school community. Peg has had a long association with our school as both a parent and employee and it won’t quite be the same without her here. However, with the next generation attending Kinder next year we’re sure to see Peggy step into the grandma role and continue to be a valued member of our community. Thanks for all of your hard work and enjoy your well deserved retirement Peggy!
Once again, thank you to all who have supported our school and its learners this term. Please ensure you have a restful break ready for the business of term 4!

At South George Town Primary School we have now enjoyed two terms of Pre Kindergarten sessions. Children understand the routine of pre Kinder and are able to sit and listen for a story, sing songs and line up for outside time. They are getting so much practice at sharing and taking turns as well as following adult instructions.
One of the special things about our Pre Kindergarten sessions is the inclusion of younger (as well as Kinder aged) siblings. It is exciting to watch young toddlers benefit from the sessions and they continue to amaze us at their ability to follow the same routines as their older brother or sister. This is setting them up for success when they finally get their own turn at Pre Kinder.
Thank you to our wonderful families who come along every Wednesday morning and help us out by playing and talking with their children, holding onto the stretchy lycra, washing up and helping to pack up outside (our tall Dads are very handy!). We have one more term of Pre Kinder. If you know of any eligible children who haven't found out about us yet, please let us know or encourage them to call the school on 63821564.
Each fortnight we will be putting the spotlight on one our staff members, so you can
get to know our wonderful South family.
My role at SGTPS
Prep Teacher
These are few of my favourite things
- Spending time at home in the garden when it's sunny
- Chocolate (OBVIOUSLY)
Dislikes
- Beetroot
- being cold (optimal temperature for me is 25+, and only then will you see me without my sleeping bag coat on)
Pets
I have 2 dogs.
- My oldest is a 14 year old Border Collie cross Jack Russell, she goes by many names, to name just a few eg. Jessica, Riffy, Jessy May.
- My other is a "cat like" cavoodle who is just over 1 and is a little cutie pie, she goes by Daisy, Rat and Noodle.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I like to spend time with my friends and family, not doing a lot, mostly relaxing and enjoying the time together.
A few fun facts
- Both my arms are double jointed
- In another life I would be living in Egypt being an archaeologist or a palaeontologist.. one day maybe.
A tremendous effort was made by all who participated in the TPSSA Country Gold Carnival Friday last week. We're very proud of you all. Although the carnival was a one day event this year, our students took it in their stride and played brilliantly. Thank you to our parents and teachers who sent through photos.

A huge thank you to Kim Byard (netball) and Pip Jacobs (hockey) for supporting SGTPS with coaching our winter sports teams. Your enthusiasm, kindness and effort is much appreciated!
Mrs. White would like to say a big thank you to our past students, Finny, Bella and Keegan who have been wonderful assets assisting with umpiring hockey during winter sports this year, and just supporting hockey players, generally.
