Our students' creative talents are certainly being stimulated with the Lego and 100 word writing competitions. We are seeing a lot of entries flowing in and you can see the Lego creations and samples of the writing displayed around the school. Please take the time to observe and read these amazing pieces of construction and writing - We are so proud of our engineers and authors!
The feedback we have received form the swimming teachers has been outstanding. They have been blown away by the positive attitude of our students, as well as their commitment to improve, their manners and overall behaviour. With the program set to finish this Friday I would like to thank our swimming teachers and congratulate all of our students on their fantastic participation and attitude.
To celebrate our success in the pool, and in consultation with students, teachers and parents, we have decided to move forward in the year and rebrand our swimming carnival. Given we want to follow on the back of our students being in the pool and their current enthusiasm we are having our “Splash and Dash” this coming Tuesday the 10th of March. The Splash and Dash will be for our grade 3-6 students from 10.00am to 2.00pm and will focus on participation and fun. The morning will have some traditional 25m events mixed with shorter swimming and novelty races. The afternoon program will involve groups rotating through different activities such as bomb competitions, water tag and water slide. As the emphasis is on fun and participation we will not be having a competition between our houses and ribbons will only be awarded for the 25m events. We will have a training squad of swimmers that we will get together in Term 4 to pick the school swimming team from for the representative carnival. Our hope is that the new format will encourage all of our grade 3-6 students to come and participate and have a great time.
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay

Last Year, students in the Grade 5/6 classes were involved in a program called, “Listen, Learn and be Inspired.”
People with interesting, inspiring and courageous stories were invited into the classrooms to share their life’s journeys. We believed that by sharing their motivational stories with our students it was a great way to inspire and encourage our young people to push themselves out of their comfort zone and teach them the importance of self-belief and a positive attitude. We hope to continue with this program later in the year, and already have some speakers lined up.
In December, Blake Miller, whose mother runs the equestrian program based at Pipers River, will be visiting the classes to share his experiences. Blake has Autism and Hyper Activity but is not letting this stand in the way of leading an adventurous and purposeful life! In the meantime, Blake has suggested that with parental guidance, students can follow the '69 rivers in 69 days' journey under Blaketassie on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/blaketassie/ and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlakeTassie/ and that they can then follow the hash tags to the bigger cause to see other super athletes who have their own struggles with physical or mental challenges but who get up every day and train their butts off. The photo below shows what the 69 rivers in 69 days can entail.
This Friday afternoon we will be participating in Clean Up Australia Day. We are concentrating on our school grounds and Wombat Walk. Students from Prep – grade 6 will participate from 2.15 pm on Friday afternoon. Students are welcome to bring along gardening or work gloves or a pair of old tongs to pick up rubbish. A recycled plastic bag from home to collect rubbish would also be appreciated. Parents are welcome to join us in the clean up. If you have any questions, please ask Mrs Spicer.
