I want to congratulate all of our learning community on the way we have adapted to the situation we find ourselves in. When looking over the data of how our parents and students have engaged in their at home learning and how we continue to share and develop processes and ways of working together. It is evidence of very positive working relationships between school and home.
We are continuing to adapt as we find new or more efficient ways of working and the movement to the online platform Canvas for our 3-6 students will help that. We also have access to Zoom video conferencing, within the safe confines of the Education Department’s IT parameters, launching next week. Hopefully all students working remotely will be able to see their teacher’s smiling face again soon!
Talking of smiling faces, I hope you all have seen my latest YouTube clip. Next week I am going to announce some Merit certificates and Aussie of the Month so keep an eye out for those.
As industry and work places go back to work, I understand that many parents' ability to supervise from home may change. As we have previously stated we will still be providing on site learning for students whose parents are at work, or can not adequately supervise their children’s learning at home. The clear message from the government is that schools are relatively safe places to be - however the steps that have been put in place are aimed to reduce the amount of movement within the community and across the state. So please continue to support the guidelines the government has in place and together we can get back closer to normal if we all do the right thing.
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay
At South George Town Primary School we are excited to announce that we are planning improvements to the blue equipment in the early childhood area.
We would like to know what your Prep to Grade 2 child would like to see added to the playground.
What is their favourite part of the blue equipment?
Are there some parts of the equipment that they don’t like or rarely play on?
Have they seen something at another playground that they really love that we could add to ours?
We would love Prep to Grade 2 children to draw us a labelled diagram of what they would like the blue equipment to look like? Please send a photo of your child’s diagram to school by inboxing the school facebook page or texting it to 0417 328 293.
We will look at the suggestions over the next week and then move quickly to have new equipment installed as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing some fun and practical diagrams!
Attention all families! Here is the link for you to access your child’s Learning at Home package for this week.
There is also a short video from Mr Hay discussing the challenges around Learning at Home plus a handy video on How To Log On To Canvas for 3-6 families.
Please contact the school with any questions regarding Learning at Home for your child.
We can help.

Here at South we continue to be impressed with the range and quality of the 'Learning at Home'. Naomi from grade 5/6 W has been very busy. She has made a newsletter and invited classmates to contribute. Initially, Naomi made a brief newsletter and then decided to expand it.
