What a wonderful experience it was to have Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Kate Warner AC, Governor of Tasmania visit us today (photos to come - keep an eye out on our social media platforms and next weeks newsletter). Primarily her visit was to come and talk to us about our palawa kani language and cultural program. Ms Cameron, Susan and a group of our Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students talked to her about the journey we have been on in the Aboriginal education space. As well as the exciting opportunities we are providing to all our students in learning about the palawa kani language and culture. We were also able to discuss some exciting new ideas and opportunities we hope to undertake in relation to signage, art and culture in and around our school, as well as tie into some of the initiatives with the George Town council. We hope to share with you some of these initiatives very soon!
When I walk around the school I am filled with pride with the amazingly settled classrooms and learning that is already well underway. Students, teachers, staff and parents should all feel as proud because it is a combined effort and focus that allows this to occur. All the visitors that come to our school talk of the lovely “feel” and how polite and kind the children are. This doesn’t happen by chance, and we all have to continue to build this culture of learning and belonging.
Finally, tomorrow is Ms Cameron’s last day before she takes maternity leave. We wish her all the best on the next adventure she is about to undertake!
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay

Getting involved in School Banking is easy!
All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:
- Online
Visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account.
- In branch
Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate.
If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet.
School Banking day is Friday. Each week you need to drop your banking into the office.
