Congratulations to our Cross Country Team who participated last week in the Tamar Association cross country at Beaconsfield. We had one top 4 place getter in Mahalia Brown and 5 other places in the top 10 with all other competitors trying their best. The level of camaraderie and support for our team mates and other competitors was outstanding and what we’ve grown to expect from our school.
There has been a noticeable increase in “special” things (toys, cards, stationary) being brought into school of late. I would caution that this can often lead to those special things being broken, lost or taken. Unless they are being used specifically for learning, with prior arrangement with the teacher, it is best that these types of items stay at home.
We continue to focus on developing our vocabulary across the school. I again encourage you to have conversations with your child on the focus words they are using in their classrooms as this continually reinforces the use of those words in context.
As we approach the end of term we are also focusing on reporting and parent teacher. Reports will be given out during parent teacher conversations in the week begining the 28th June (the last week of term). Our office will be sending out appointment booking times next week.
I hope you all have had the opportunity to view our video that we made. We are all so very proud of our school and are always continually striving to be better. Please share it widely with friends, family and the world!
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay

Book Amnesty!! There are a number of Library books missing from 2020 class loans. These books may have been used as Home Readers and we are also missing Home Readers from the Literacy Program. We believe that most of these books were used during COVID and Learning from Home last year. A box has been placed outside the office for any books that you might find lurking on bookshelves
An outstanding day was had by all students participating in TPSSA Cross Country at Beaconsfield Primary School last week.
This year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge is up and running. To complete the challenge, students need to read 10 books in 10 weeks. Larger chapter books can be counted as more than one book - please talk to your teacher about how many chapters or pages can be counted as "one book".
Visit the school library or local town library or ask your child’s teacher for some ideas on great books to read for the challenge. Books can be either fiction or non-fiction. All Libraries Tasmania members can read an amazing collection of ebooks for free. Just use this link https://librariestasmania.overdrive.com/library/kids and sign in.
The challenge finishes on the last day of term, Friday July 2nd. Students simply need to fill in their log books, get a parent/guardian signature and show their teacher each time they finish reading a book. Students who complete the challenge will receive a certificate from the Premier and go into the running to receive other great prizes. We strongly urge you to encourage your child to make reading part of their daily routine and take part in this worthwhile challenge.
For more information see your child’s teacher or visit https://premiersreadingchallenge.tas.gov.au/
