Welcome back for Term 4! Once again we have a jam packed schedule in front of us with lots of fantastic learning and celebratory opportunities over the next 8 weeks. Certainly our planning for next year is well underway in terms of staffing and the development of classes and programs. At this point in time, (but things can change quickly), we will have minimal staff movement. It is likely we will have some adjustments to our class structures and I will keep you informed of that as we move forward.
Our students have certainly hit the ground running and are back into great learning routines and demonstrating our values throughout the school. This was certainly evident in regard to the large amount of merit certificates and Reach for the Stars awards that were given out this week, and we were excited to award our second only Gold Reach for the Stars award. We are heading into the assessment and summary phase of our learning cycle at school and early indications are that the majority of our children have made fantastic improvement. Our NAPLAN performance has also improved and I’ll detail more about this in our next newsletter.
Our school will be having a student free day next Friday and our teachers will be hard at work moderating student learning samples, analysing this year's data sets and developing curriculum and programming to continue our school improvement journey. We can certainly be proud of our school’s commitment to improvement and the significant gains we have achieved in teaching and learning, and student achievement.
Finally, I’d like to wish those students luck who are competing in the State Athletics carnival next week. I know you will represent yourselves, the school, your family and community with pride.

Aussie of the Month - September
Here are our Aussies of the Month for September. These students were selected because they uphold the Aussie traditions of mateship and a fair go for all, as well as our school values of 'learning', 'respect', 'responsibility' and 'relationships'.
A very big thank you to the Steer and Medlock families for their donations of high quality toys for our early learning programs.
Here are our latest 'Reach for the Stars' recipients. These students have demonstrated our school values over several years. Congratulations on this very special award!

Orders for Book Club Issue 7 must be returned to the office by Monday 31st October, with online orders closing at 9am.
Last Thursday our Beginning and Continuing Esk Bands performed for over 100 people at the George Town Memorial Hall. There was a mixture of both excitement and nerves, which is perfectly normal and expected for such a performance. Both bands played brilliantly and received fantastic applause from the audience. Our Esk Band students should be very proud of their achievement. They are already working on new music for upcoming performances and look forward to sharing their amazing progress!
Save the Date! On Thursday 10th November we will be holding our Kinder - Grade 6 Colour Fun Run on the school oval from 2pm. Parents are welcome to join us! Students would have bought a sponsorship booklet home last week, there are spares at the office if needed. Money and booklets are due back to the school office by Monday 7th November.
