What a wonderful day we had on Tuesday at our athletics carnival. The weather did the right thing by us and our students’ participation and effort was outstanding. A big thank you to all of our parents who came, particularly those who helped out by doing a job, and also to our Port Dalrymple student leaders who were once again amazing helpers. As always a massive thankyou to Ms Fish for he organisation and enthusiasm and to Craig for his immaculate line marking.
NAPLAN is in full swing at the moment and our students are dutifully undertaking the testing. It will be interesting to see what the earlier time frame for the testing window will mean for our students given that our year 3 and 5’s have only just had “normal” classes resume after learn to swim. It will also be interesting to see if the testing is based on the year 3 and 5 curriculum given that the students haven’t actually done very much of it yet!
Our Lego competition is underway again and students are asked to bring in their creations this Monday for judging- students then take them home the next day. Mr Timms is very excited about the competition and can’t wait to see all of the entries- remember though they must be original creations and not kit designs.
The first of our reports goes home this week- the Primary Progress Report. This is just a quick update on your child’s work habits and how they have settled in to school. Some students on learning plans will not receive this report as there would have been parent conversations already. As always our staff are always available for a conversation around your child and their learning and wellbeing.

Aussie of the Month - February
Here are our Aussies of the Month for February. These students were selected because they uphold the Aussie traditions of mateship and a fair go for all, as well as our school values of 'learning', 'respect', 'responsibility' and 'relationships'.
Here are our latest 'Reach for the Stars' recipients. These students have demonstrated our school values over several years. Congratulations on this very special award!

Our Preps had a small excursion to the George Town Library for a special story time with local author Sharon Yaxley.
Sharon read her new book “In Nan's Garden” along with her other books about the adventures of Dunstan and Theodore.
Each child got to take home a copy of one of Sharon’s books at the end of the event.

Questacon's mission is to excite and motivate people through inspirational learning experiences. As Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre they are focused on supporting young people to develop the attributes, skills, knowledge and agency to thrive in tomorrow’s world. We had the pleasure of Questacon visiting our school. Students in prep - grade 6 spent some time learning all about STEM.
