From the Principal

As this is the last newsletter of term, I would like to start by congratulating all members of our school community on how the focus on learning has been still our number one priority, even with the many challenges COVID has thrown at us so far this year. Across the school I am constantly impressed by the level of growth I am observing in student learning and social skills. Obviously, being resilient and adaptable to change has been highly evident across the term as we have teachers and students come in and out of isolation.
We were lucky enough to have our athletics carnival and run our Lego competition which were both highlights of the term. The Lego winners are being announced in today's newsletter. Another highlight for me is our student leaders and the great example they continue to set within the school and watching their growth in leadership.
Our new Aboriginal garden is amazing and what an asset it is already. The artwork our Aboriginal students and Susan have created is simply beautiful and when the plants grow within the area it will be stunning. A huge thank you to Susan Mansell for creating the vision and artwork and to Bell Bay Aluminium for the sponsorship to make it happen.
A huge thank you for all the donations we’ve had for our Easer raffle- there is certainly enough to make some great prizes. Good luck to all who have bought a ticket. This will be drawn on Wednesday and announced on our social media channels.
We will have some staffing changes for next term as Mr Clancy is taking a couple of weeks long service leave and Mr Edmunds will be the 3/4C teacher. Mrs Spicer is having all of term 2 on long service leave as well. Mrs Matthews will be picking up some of Mrs Spicer’s early learning role and other aspects will be filled internally by other staff. We all know what an amazing teacher and leader within our school community Janine is and we wish her well on a well deserved holiday.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday break, ready for another great term of learning and growth.
