From the Principal

It has been a fantastic start to Term 2. We continue to build our home reading and library book resources with quality texts (books). Our students are very motivated to read these texts, and we are also starting our Literacy Leaders with their paired reading buddies next week. Our teacher learning teams at school are focusing on our teaching of fluency - one of the goals in our school improvement plan. The quality books that are read at home are another support in developing good reading habits. Remember, the bookmark that accompanies your child’s home reader has hints on how you can support them with that book.
Term 2 is Cross Country season and we kick of with our school based cross country on Monday. Fingers crossed we get a nice day for the event. Any Kinders who are not scheduled for school that day are more than welcome to attend the event with their family. On Wednesday the 28th of May the Tamar Valley Schools CrossCcountry will be held and we will send details of those people attending as soon as we can after our event on Monday. The TPSSA team is selected after our combined event and details of that will follow.
At the time of publication of this article, we can announce that the architect for our school redevelopment has been selected and approved through treasury and other various government departments. An official announcement will come via the government very soon, but a school based working group is meeting very shortly to begin the planning and consultancy process. We will keep everyone in the loop as we know more (and are allowed to officially tell everyone).
Finally, our attendance data sits at just under 90% for the year, which is an improvement on this time last year. We would love to be able to keep our attendance at or above 90% for the rest of the year and thank all parents and carers for your cooperation in getting your children to school. The key to success in life is education and by being at school it gives our students the best chance in life.
