Welcome to Term 4! This is often the busiest time of the year with a lot of assessment, activities and planning for next year occurring. It is an exciting time of the year for many of our students, particularly our year 6s as they look forward to the next stage of their schooling life.

The year 6s have undertaken an extensive transitional program this year with both Port Dalrymple School and Star of the Sea College. Their full day transition is occurring on November 11th, where they will experience a day with their new classmates and experience classes as they would next year.

Our planning for next year is well underway as we have started work on class structure and student placements. We will have minimum staffing changes; however, the Department does sometimes swing late surprises on us with compulsory transfers and the like. We are lucky to have very skilled teachers across the board and any teacher your child has ensures they will receive an outstanding education. Classes and staffing are also impacted by our enrolment, so if your children will not be attending South in 2026, please let us know as soon as possible. Likewise, if you know of any primary school age children who are moving into our area, please get their parents to contact our school. At this early stage our classes will be Kinder (Mrs Matthews), Prep (Ms Quinn), Prep/1(Ms Grace), two grade 1/2s (Mrs Locke and Miss Holz), two grade 3/4s (Miss Garwood and Ms Scillini), a 4/5 (Mrs Gee) and two grade 5/6 classes (Mr Timms and Miss Singline). Mr Clancy is moving to an off-class student support role next year and all our other specialist and leadership roles will remain as is.

Our school redevelopment group is working diligently with the architects and engineers to bring our ideas for our school redevelopment to life. One aspect of the redevelopment that will have a major impact on the overall budget is the replacement of underground services. Unfortunately, this work has to be done and because its underground won’t be seen! We are still focused on delivering contemporary classrooms and flexible spaces across the school that optimise our student engagement and learning outcomes. We will have further updates as the final drawings and costings are completed.
