From the Principal
We will be conducting our first assembly of the year at 9.30 this Friday in the gym. All are welcome to attend, but we do ask that you sign in at the office using our new check in system. Likewise when we hold our athletics carnival on March 15th, please sign in via the office. Once you have signed in you will be able to move outside to the carnival, or to the gym.
One of our themes this year will be “leaning into learning”, that is trying difficult things. We have a lot of students doing that across the school at the moment, none more so than the great number of students who have taken up the recorder for the first time. Our music teacher, Ms Long, has done an amazing job of inspiring the next generation of musicians. If the number of enthusiastic recorder players creating the cacophony of noise at lunch times and after school is anything to go by then we certainly have a lot of students “leaning into learning” in that area.
I would encourage any of the grade 3-6 students who have been also inspired by Ms Long in music to seriously consider joining the Esk Band program. We have extended out the time in which to enrol by another week. We would love to have as many children as possible participate in this very rewarding program. We understand that there is a cost involved, but our philosophy is that anyone who is committed to the program can participate and we have the ability to work out ways for that to happen. Please see Ms Bumford or Mr Hay and we can work something out.
A reminder that as the mornings begin to cool off an we begin to wear more clothing in the mornings to have all of our clothes labelled. Often those cool mornings can turn into beautiful warm days and jumpers, jackets, etc. can be left lying about. If they are clearly labelled we can return them to their rightful owner.
I would like to wish Mrs Della White safe travels as she embarks on well earned long service leave between now and the end of term. We welcome Ms Terri Gibbons who will be teaching the class in Mrs White's absence.
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay
