Walk Safely to School Day
Tomorrow we will be participating in Walk Safely to School Day. This annual event is in its 22nd year and encourages primary school children, their parents and carers to walk safely and regularly to school. Students would have brought a note home with details of where to meet staff on Friday morning. Bus children can also participate by being dropped off at the meeting points. If you would like your child to participate, please return the signed form to school as soon as possible. Without a signed permission form children will be unable to hop off the buses until they reach school. Parents and carers are very welcome to join us for the walk. Here are some safety messages for parents/carers provided by the organisers;
- Children up to eight years old should hold an adult's hand on the footpath, in the car park, or when crossing the road; an adult is defined as a parent, caregiver, grandparent, sibling in high school or older, other relative or neighbour, or other adult as advised by the child's parents/carers
- Children up to ten years old should be actively supervised in the traffic environment and should hold an adult's hand when crossing the road
