From the Principal
If you follow our Social Media pages you would be well aware of the amazing learning being undertaken across the school. At our assembly last Friday we were able to showcase some of the art that has been produced by all grades from Prep to grade 6. What struck me was the connections to the broader curriculum and to our deepening understanding of Aboriginal history. We also have many of these artworks framed around the school so I would encourage all parents to have a walk around our hallways and have a look at them. A huge thank you to Ms Hardinge who facilitates our brilliant art program.
Our cross country team has been selected and will travel on Wednesday to Beaconsfield for the Tamar carnival. This is always a great day, although often very chilly, and I know our students will represent our school with aplomb as they always do! All participants will need to be well prepared for the weather with extra warm clothing and our fantastic school uniform.
I would remind everyone that the wearing of school uniform is very important at school. It is the cheapest option, helps the school from a safety standpoint and displays our pride in who we are. At the moment there seems to be a lot of different non-school jumpers and hoodies being worn. I know that getting things dry can be a challenge at this time of year, but I would like to see as much school uniform as possible. The day we had our filming we looked amazing as a collective, all wearing our uniform together.
We continue to work on building the vocabulary of our students as we as a teaching and teaching assistant staff build our knowledge in how best to teach it. Our early childhood classes have been sharing through our social media platforms their focus and how parents might engage with their children. Our primary classes are also engaging in some specific technical vocab words in Science an HASS. I encourage all parents to have a talk to their children about all the new words they are learning!
Yours in partnership,
Brett Hay
